An eight opens the number, and there the two sources pull apart. In 1911 Sepharial set “The number of dissolution” next to Uranus, while the Decoz heading for the digit is “8: BALANCE & POWER”. Under one reading 844 begins with a loosening, and under the other it begins with management.

The fours that follow are steadier ground. Mercury goes with them in the 1911 list, with the phrase “The number of reality and concretion”, and Decoz writes that the 4 is without a doubt the most stable, grounded number, reflecting strength and stability. Both entries speak of solidity, so a doubled 4 after the 8 gives the number a half that is settled in the vocabulary of both authors, where the 8 is not. That is an observation about the two entries and not something either author wrote about 844.

What the List Records for 844

Wikipedia’s list of North American area codes gives 844 to toll-free telephone service, and dates it to December 7, 2013, with the single word created. So the digits also head a block of numbers that callers can ring free of charge, a use unrelated to numerology. The list gives no further detail for 844 beyond that one word, and we add none. The two meanings of the number, a prefix on a phone line and a sequence read by numerologists, share nothing but their digits, and each can be discussed without the other.
