Angel number 143 is a one, a four and a three in an uneven order. People type it as angel number 143 or as 143 angel number, and some notice it on a clock at 1:43. This page covers the three digits in numerology’s tradition, the arithmetic of the whole number, and the one real-world meaning the number carries outside numerology. It is reflection and not a forecast, and it reads nothing into anyone’s life.
A Pager Code Before an Angel Number
Wikipedia’s article on the number 143 lists it as a popular pager number for sending the phrase I love you, based on the number of letters in each of the three words. Count them and the code appears: one letter in the first word, four in the second and three in the third.
That is a messaging habit and it belongs to the history of pagers. It does not come from numerology, and Sepharial and Decoz, the two authors we draw on, say nothing about it. Whatever the digits mean in numerology, the code is one reason a person may recognize 143 before ever meeting the idea of angel numbers. Numerology has no method for a person’s love life, so the digits below are described on their own terms and not through the code.
The Digits as Two Authors Describe Them
The 1 opens the number. Sepharial, in The Kabala of Numbers (1911), ties the 1 to the Sun and calls it “the ego, self-assertion, positivism”. Hans Decoz, for modern numerology, says the 1’s personality is “strong, individualistic and goal-oriented”.
Next is the 4. In Sepharial’s table it belongs to Mercury, and he sums it up as “The number of reality and concretion”. Decoz’s version is that the 4 is “without a doubt the most stable, grounded number”.
The 3 finishes the number. For Sepharial it is a trinity of life, substance and intelligence, carried by Mars. Decoz compares it to “a gifted teenager” who still has parental protection. Mars comes after Mercury in the planet order here, so the whole sequence runs Sun, Mercury, Mars.
The 4 and 3 are swapped compared with 134, which uses the same three digits in a different order. Numerology’s tradition in these sources assigns no meaning to the order, so the difference between the two numbers lies in how they look and not in what the digits say.
Eleven Times Thirteen
We computed 1 + 4 + 3 = 8, with no master number and no stop at 11, 22 or 33 on the way. The modern description of that digit is on our life path number 8 page.
Factored, 143 is 11 x 13, a pair of twin primes, which are primes that differ by 2. Numerology names 11 a master number and 13 a karmic debt total, but a factor is not a digit sum, so neither label applies to 143. The number has another oddity: multiplied by 7 it gives 1001, and 1001 is 7 x 11 x 13.
The pieces 1 and 43 make 44, and 4 + 4 is 8. The pieces 14 and 3 make 17, and 1 + 7 is 8 again. Reversed, the number reads 341, which is 11 x 31, so the mirror shares one of the two factors, the 11, with the original. The digits multiply to 12, which would reduce to 3, but a total comes from adding.
Clock time
A 12-hour dial reaches 1:43 twice a day, and a 24-hour display writes the early one as 01:43, seventeen minutes before two o’clock. In the US order neither 1/43 nor 14/3 is a date, since there is no 43rd day and no 14th month.
Numbers With the Same Digits
Anagrams of a number are the simplest relatives it has, since they keep the digits and the total and change only the order. Two of them have pages here, using the same digits in other orders: angel number 134 and angel number 314. The three repeats that supply the digits are angel number 111, angel number 444 and angel number 333. For the wider set of sequences see our repeating numbers page.
How Often an 8 Comes Up
We counted every day from January 1, 1950 to December 31, 2009, which is 21,915 calendar dates, keeping 11, 22 and 33 as masters. A life path 8 results for 11.09% of them, which is close to one date in nine. Each date enters the count once, so the figure describes sixty years of calendar days and says nothing about how often anyone meets the number 143. A number you notice is a separate thing from one worked out from a birth date.
The angel number calculator works through the same steps for any other number that you would like to try.
Questions people ask
Numerology's tradition describes the digits, a 1, a 4 and a 3, and our arithmetic gives a total of 8. Outside numerology, Wikipedia records 143 as a pager code counted in letters. Beyond those two things, any meaning is a personal reading and not part of a method.
Not from the digits. Sepharial and Decoz describe a 1, a 4 and a 3 without any reference to relationships, and numerology has no method for a person's love life. The pager code is a separate matter: it comes from counting letters in three words and works as a messaging habit, not as a numerological reading.
Because 11 x 13 equals 143, and both factors are prime, so there is no other way to split it into primes. Numerology names 11 a master number and 13 a karmic debt total, but a factor is not a digit sum, so neither label is applied to 143. The number reduces to 8 instead.
Twice on a 12-hour dial, once in the early hours and once in the afternoon. A 24-hour display shows the early one as 01:43 and the afternoon one as 13:43. Only the early form keeps the digits 1, 4 and 3 together, seventeen minutes before two o'clock.
