Angel Number 1118: Three 1s, an 8 and a Master 11

Angel number 1118 in numerology: three 1s ending on an 8, a total that stops on the master number 11, Sepharial and Decoz on the 8, and the 11:18 clock.

Angel number 1118 is written on clocks as 11:18 and sometimes split as 11 18. This page covers what numerology’s tradition says about its digits and the arithmetic of the whole number, as reflection and not as a forecast. Three 1s lead the way, an 8 closes it, and the digits add up to a master number.

The Eight at the End

The number has a long run of the same digit and then a change of character. Sepharial, in The Kabala of Numbers (1911), gives the 8 to Uranus and sets it down as “The number of dissolution.” Decoz heads his modern entry “8: BALANCE & POWER”, so the two writers pull in opposite directions on the digit that closes 1118. A reader can take the last place as a sharp turn or as a stabilising one, depending on which of the two they start from.

The three 1s before it are the ego digit of Sepharial’s Sun, “the ego, self-assertion, positivism”, and Decoz’s strong and individualistic personality, “goal-oriented” in his sentence. Three of a digit that assertive, followed by a single 8 that one author reads as dissolving and the other as balancing, is the feature that gives 1118 its character in numerology.

The climb from the last 1 to the 8 is seven places on the number line, and since the first three digits do not move at all, that is the only step the number takes.

Why the Total Stops at 11

Adding the digits gives 11, one of the master numbers, so in the method that keeps them the chain ends there.

What Decoz says of the 11

The modern entry for the 11 is, in Decoz’s wording, a number that “has twice the power of a 1 but is dominated by the sensitivity and intuition of the 2”. The method that reduces every total would carry on to 2 instead. Our master numbers page shows where the two methods split.

The partial sums

Reading left to right the running totals are 1, 2, 3 and 11, so the first three digits climb one step at a time and the 8 makes one long jump to the master. No earlier total along the way is a master.

Two Halves and Their Sum

Cut in the middle and 1118 is 11 and 18. The 11 is a master on its own, and the 18 reduces to 9 (1 + 8). Together the halves make 11 + 18 = 29, and 2 + 9 is 11 again, so the whole number, the digits and the halves all arrive at the same master total. That three-way agreement is our own observation and numerology does not remark on it.

The 9 from the second half never shows in the final total, and the two routes to 11 are worth keeping apart: one adds the digits, the other adds the halves.

Factors and Mirror

Factorised, 1118 is 2 x 13 x 43, three primes with no square among them. Numerologists single out 13 as a total that they call a karmic debt number, but 13 appears here only as a factor, a divisor of the number and not a total reached by adding, so it does not count as one. The reversed number is 8111.

11:18 on the Dial and on the Calendar

Twice a day a 12-hour clock passes 11:18, and a 24-hour clock passes it only once, in the morning. Written as a date the four digits give 11/18, November 18 in the United States. The time is eighteen minutes after eleven, and the date falls in the eleventh month, the month named by the first half of the number, which is a coincidence of the calendar and not numerology.

Numbers Close to 1118

The all-1 run is angel number 111 and the all-8 run is angel number 888, and 1118 is a mixture of the two with three parts to one. The full family of repeats sits on the repeating numbers page.

The Master 11 in Birth Dates

We ran the 21,915 calendar dates from 1950-01-01 to 2009-12-31 through the life path sum with masters kept, and 6.5% ended in an 11. That is a far smaller share than a plain digit gets. For the 11 worked out from a birth date and not seen on a clock, read life path number 11.

Questions people ask

It depends on the method. 1 + 1 + 1 + 8 is 11, and numerologists who keep master numbers stop there. Those who reduce every total go one step further, 1 + 1, and reach 2. Both are plain arithmetic, and our master numbers page explains why the two camps exist.

As a time it is eighteen minutes past eleven. Numerology drops the colon and reads the digits 1118, which add up to 11, with a master 11 as the first half and an 18 that reduces to 9 as the second. It can pass twice a day on a 12-hour clock.

They share one digit and little else. 888 is three 8s that add up to 24 and then 6, while 1118 holds a single 8 after three 1s and adds up to 11. Both are built from numerology's digits, which is where the comparison ends.
