20 20 Angel Number: 2020, 20:20 and the Zero Twice

Angel number 2020 is typed as 2020, as 20 20 when someone copies it in two halves, and as 20:20 when it lands on a clock. A Pair of Twenties

The digits are 2, 0, 2, 0, so the number alternates between a two and a zero. Cut it in half and both halves are 20, identical, which is what numerologists mean by a repeated pair. Each 20 reduces to 2, so the halves give 2 + 2 = 4. Reversed, the digits read 0202, which drops to 202 once the leading zero is dropped.

The 2 and what it is paired with

In The Kabala of Numbers (1911), Sepharial makes the 2 a lunar digit, “antithesis; also of witness and confirmation”. Decoz, the modern numerologist we set beside him, lists the 2 among the “subtle, gentle, diplomatic” types, in his own sentence about its opposite. The 2 appears twice and each time a zero follows it, so there is no place in the number where a 2 stands next to another 2, and the doubled digit is always split by something that adds nothing to the sum.

Why the zero is worth a paragraph

Only one of our sources writes about the 0. Sepharial says it is “the universal paradox”, the infinitely great and the infinitely small, and he places it beside the idea of infinity. Decoz has no entry for it in the sources we use, so we give him no view. In 2020 the zero occurs in second place and in last place, which means every 2 is followed directly by the one digit Sepharial treats as the paradox.

First and last, joined

Sepharial adds a remark about where the zero goes. In his words the cypher is put last “so that the first and last are brought together to form 10”. The remark is about numbers that end in zero, and 2020 is one. Its first digit is a 2 and its last is a 0, and brought together they form 20, which is exactly the pair the number repeats. It is a neat fit and it is also a coincidence, because any number written as a pair twice begins and ends with the two digits of the pair.

Four Is the Total

Add 2, 0, 2 and 0 and the answer is 4, reached in one step with no master number in sight. The zeros add nothing, so the total is the same as that of 22. Sepharial gives the 4 to Mercury and calls it “The number of reality and concretion.” Decoz writes that the 4 is “without a doubt the most stable, grounded number”.

The four is not a digit of the number, so it is a product of the addition and not a feature printed in it. The old and new readings agree that the digit stands for solidity, and a number made of two 2s and two zeros arrives there by adding two quiet digits. That is an observation about the sum and about the two sources, and it says nothing about the reader.

Factors: the 101 Again

The number is 2 x 2 x 5 x 101, or 20 x 101. Write a two-digit pair twice and the result is that pair times 101, so 20 x 101 returns 2020. The zero does not interfere with the pattern, since 20 is written in full and the product 20 x 101 gives 2020 exactly.

Only After 8 in the Evening

A 12-hour clock has no hour 20, and the same moment reads 8:20, so the repeated pair never forms on that display. Only a 24-hour display ever shows 20:20, and it does so once a day. As a month and day, 20/20 is impossible, since there is no 20th month. So 2020 reaches people on a 24-hour screen, on a reference number or on a street, and not through a calendar.
