Angel Number 118: Two Ones and an Eight, Down to 1

Angel number 118 in numerology: a doubled 1 then an 8, the sum 10 that ends on 1, the 1:18 clock time, and the two dates it spells, January 18 and November 8.

Last updated September 30, 2026

A pair of ones followed by an eight, this number shows up as a time, 1:18, and can also be cut into two calendar dates. The pages below give the digits as Sepharial and Hans Decoz described them, the arithmetic of the whole number, and the clock and dates. Reflection is the purpose, and forecasting plays no part.

Two Ways to Write It as a Date

In the US order of month and day, 118 can be cut in two places. A slash after the first digit gives 1/18, which is January 18. A slash after the second gives 11/8, which is November 8. Not every three-digit number can be cut both ways, but 118 can, and a person who meets it on a receipt may be looking at either one. The dates carry no numerology of their own here, and they are offered as a fact about how the digits can be grouped.

The Clock, in Both Displays

Eighteen minutes past one, 1:18 is shown twice a day by a dial. The 24-hour version of the early pass is 01:18, while the afternoon pass becomes 13:18 and breaks the match.

A One Twice, Then the Eight

The 1 leads and repeats. Sepharial, in The Kabala of Numbers (1911), gives it the Sun and reads it as “the ego, self-assertion, positivism”. For Hans Decoz, the personality of a 1 is “strong, individualistic and goal-oriented”. A 1908 source, Balliett, says Pythagoras gave 1 and 22 a mystical character as the start and end of the Hebrew alphabet. The remark concerns the 1 alone.

The 8 closes the number, and it is the digit on which the two authors differ most. Sepharial links it to Uranus and to “dissolution”, where Decoz heads his entry “8: BALANCE & POWER”. Read in order, 118 runs from a repeated digit of assertion to one that the old handbook pictures as dissolving and the modern one as balancing. That ordering is an accident of the layout, and the sources draw no conclusion from it.

The doubled one

A pair of ones looks like the master number 11, and it is worth saying what that resemblance is. In 118 the two ones are simply the first two digits, and the chain adds all three. No master number is reached, and the likeness comes only from the way the digits sit on the page.

Ten, Then One

One plus one plus eight is ten, and ten shrinks to one. No master number and no karmic debt total turns up. Ten is an ordinary stage, and the chain is two additions long.

The result is the digit the number began with. The doubled 1 at the front and the 1 at the end of the sum are the same digit, so the tradition Sepharial and Decoz give for a 1 is the last word of the chain as well as the first. The 8, for all its place at the end of the number, is folded into the addition.

The Sun, then Uranus, then the Sun

Sepharial’s planet links lay the same chain out in his terms. Both ones belong to the Sun, the 8 belongs to Uranus, and the 1 that the sum arrives at belongs to the Sun again. So his table begins and ends the chain with one body and sets Uranus between the two appearances of it. The table is a historical device for sorting digits, and we use it as that. The Decoz lines we quote describe temperament and mention no planets.

Two Times Fifty-Nine

The prime factors of 118 are 2 and 59, so it is an even number with a single larger prime beside the 2. Turned around it reads 811, covered at angel number 811, and the two differ, so there is no palindrome.

Numbers Close By

Three ones give angel number 111, and three eights give angel number 888, so 118 borrows from both. The wider set of pairs and runs is under repeating numbers.

A birthday can also end in a 1, and life path number 1 covers that case. It answers a different question than a number you happen to notice, though it draws on the same tradition of the digit.

Ones Along the Calendar

Among 21,915 calendar dates, one for each day from 1950 to 2009, 11.11% reduce to a life path 1 with the masters kept. As for 2027, 10.66% of the 366 possible birthdays sit in a personal year 1. Both shares sit near one in nine.

The angel number calculator above runs the same addition on any number you enter.

Questions people ask

Numerology describes digits and a sum, not a message. The 1 and the 8 are described by Sepharial and Hans Decoz, and 1 + 1 + 8 passes through 10 to end on 1. Other meanings attached to 118 are commentary outside the method, and we do not present them as tradition.

Two, in the US month-and-day order. Read as 1/18 it is January 18, and read as 11/8 it is November 8. Both use the same three digits and differ only in where the slash goes. A date is a calendar matter, and numerology does not tie a date to a number you notice elsewhere.

It falls out of the addition. The two ones make 2, the 8 brings the total to 10, and 1 plus 0 is 1. Other numbers with two ones at the front end on different digits, depending on the third one, so the return to the opening digit is specific to the 8 here.

No. The master numbers are 11, 22 and 33, and 118 is none of them. It does begin with a doubled 1, which looks like an 11 at the front. The look is only notation, because the chain for 118 adds all three digits and ends on a 1, with no master number on the way.
